History
The school was originally called ‘Holberg’s Theatre School’. Founded in 1995 in Holbergsgade, by the Russian actress Galina Brenaa, the school specialized in the Stanislvaskian approach. Over the years it grew in size and reputation, with students from all over the world, and in 2010, the school moved to Hørsholmsgade in Nørrebro.
Stuart Lynch, the current Rector, took over leadership of the school in 2013. He chose to reform the curriculum to modernize its teachings and added, among other classes, the crucial Life Coaching course. To reflect this change in spirit, the name was changed to Copenhagen’s Film and Theatre School, or KFTS.
This change in approach, of teaching the practical skills necessary to work successfully with professionals, alongside the long-established acting techniques, has resulted in a high number of graduates with a sustained career in the industry.
KFTS is the oldest, largest, and most respected independent theater school in Denmark. Unique in its successful amalgamation of acting training and Life Coaching, it is considered a true alternative to the State Theatre Schools of Denmark.
